Vriksha Ropan Bihu: April 22 (Earth Day) - June 5 (Environment Day) Successfully launched in Assam by Zubeen Garg and Padma Shree Jadav Payeng.

Zubeen Garg suggested to give a sapling / book in place of a Gamucha to honour the guest as well as the mother earth. He urged all the people of Assam to plant the saplings during this

Vriksha Ropan Bihu. Zubeen will motivate his audience in all the Bihu shows he would be conducting this season to encourage his followers to participate in this plantation festival.

Jadav Payeng shared the need to increase the forest cover as annually Assam is losing 110 of forest cover since last 28 years. So far Assam has lost 3085 forest. Plants destroyed during National Highway Construction have to be compensated appropriately.

Garima S Garg, explained the way to celebrate this festival. She invited voluntary involvement in the plantation activity.

Starting May 1 to May 30, communities need to engage in planation activities and report the number of saplings planted to JadavPayeng's FaceBook page. These plants need to be taken care for survival...

Between June 1 to June 4, Vruksha Ropan Bihu team will compile the plantation achieved against each district & on June 5, it will be made public by organizing a press conference.

This will create a competition between different districts of Assam for more number of successful plantation..
